Do You Know What Darma Is?

Simon: I wasn't expecting this conversation to go so deep so quickly. You know, that is at random ness that you had a father who struggled with his heart and so you realize the value of medicine. And i guesst the lesson tatt that taught me was that even if you don't reach your intended destination, you still touch and teach people along the way. simon: The best interpretation of o darma in the english language is that which sustains. It's the thing inside you that you don't have to continue relighting over and over again because it's there.

You hear this a lot, somebody as struggling, a therapist helped them. They refound happiness, and they devoted their life to being a therapist, so they can do the same for others. You know, when when somebody helps us, we we know what that feels like, and we want to do that for some one else. And here you are. You lived in a household of emotional struggle, watching your father go through these medical challenges. And you realize medicines, for me, because i've seen what the doctors have done my father, and that makes a lot of sense to me. I can't get off this cause i am trying to understand it. You know, that is at random ness that you had a father who struggled with his heart, and so you realize the value of medicine, and you and your brother go into medicine. If we keep our kids hidden and covered in cotton wool, then it reduces the likelihood of those opportunities to be exposed to something that could profoundly set them on a path of purpose. I

wasn't expecting this conversation to go so deep so quickly. But, i mean, where you take me, simon, is is is a concept that i learned as a kid, which is, which is darma. The best interpretation of o darma in the english language is that which sustains. It's the thing inside you that you don't have to continue sor of relighting over and over again, because it's just there. You know, ith the health care start up that i ended up doing, it did fine. It didn't knock it out of the park. We ended up selling the company i had mixed feelings about selling it, because, again, not fantastic outcome, not not unicorn by any stretch of the imagination. And i'm at a health care conference a few months later, and like, there's this founder up on stage, and he's got, he's got the company with all the rage, right? Like, he's getting articles. Everybody's tuned into what he has to say. And i'm just in the audience. I'm not even speaking at this conference. I'm just sitting in the audience. He doesn't even know i'm there, and we havet never met. But during c and a, somebody askes him, like, what motive aded you to start this company? While tolmy told me about some of the things that inspired you. And he said, you know, one of the companies that i really looked at carefully that inspired me was a company called rise, that my company.

guesst the lesson tatt that taught me was that, like, even if you don't reach your intended destination, you still touch and teach people along the way, right? You still end up having this impact. And the question is, are you truly here, like, for the impact? And that in that one area, right? As that is that truly the thing that you want a sort of move need on. When i ask people like, what do they care? To care about impact? Nowon't hav impact on the world, right? But i think we have to go more specific than that. What exactly is that thing that whether or not your name is on the impact, is it just the same to you? Or is itisit is? Are they both winds? The answer that is yes, then i think you're etting closer to your toour darma.
