The Uncompelling Character of George Staunton
George Thomas Staunton is a fascinating character in and of his self. He's not what you would see as a hero figure, but he almost emerges as a sort of a heroic figure. The thing is though, he's totally uncompelling as a character. That was fun with Manning. Other characters, the nerdy China scholar you're referring to is probably George Staunton, who you were thinking of.
