The History of Joel Chandler Harris
joel chandler harris was a white man who transcribed stories told to him by current and former slaves. Harris's versions of these stories were narrated by the fictional uncle remus, which he said sa composite for several old, wise black men he had known. The stories were largely parables featuring a crew of animal characters, written in harris's interpretation of southern black dialect. He later published nine books full of uncle remus stories before dying nten o eight.
