The Evolution of the Marburg Epidemic
In 2021, there was an outbreak in Guinea from August to September with only one individual. And then in July 2022, two cases were reported in Ghana for the first time,. And then that brings us to 2023. We are looking at two different and thus far much larger outbreaks than we have seen in recent years. These are completely disparate outbreaks that are happening to happen at the same time. It could very well be that this virus has been circulating far more widely than we realized and we're just now picking up on it for kind of the first time.
