The Limits of Democracy in Communities

There are reasonable limits that can be placed on what people can do with their property. But when you start getting into things like expensive siding, it begins to look a lot more suspiciously as if this is a device to exclude. And we want to smoke out what's the intention here? Why is this being put in place? When it gets to expensive siding,. that looks less strictly aesthetic, and more like a way of screening out undesirable neighbors.
