The Story of Mali
Mali encompasses a region of 400 towns, and its soil is extremely rich. The mediaeval west african chronicle known as the tarich el fatash paints a glowing picture of the wealth and beauty of this region. According to oral tradition, the story of human settlement along the nige river begins with a people known as the soko. This was a blended society that survived by unifying formerly desperate elements into a successful whole.
