In 16 62, 30 years before salem, the puritans were so desperate to bring back members that they came up with a highly confusing compromise called the half ay covenant. By 16 91, just a few months after samuel parris appeared, quite a few people in salem got tired of his shit. Ered now, by parris's second year in salem, he'd only gained seven new members. This was far less than he'd promised. And the parishioners he'd started with only showed u church every once in a while, because nobody really liked him.
