How to Be a Successful Security Researcher

I'm just thinking of someone that's completely new to security research. How much of what you do is looking at what attackers are already doing versus trying to anticipate what they might try next? That was a very good question. In our team, we don't do the red teaming or the offensive part of it. But it's a very big area, security research umbrella.
