The Migrant Crisis in California

The term migrant crisis would reappear in California newspapers well into the 1940s as increasing numbers of people fled the dust bowl to perform agricultural labor across the state. Their plight of course was the inspiration for John Steinbeck's legendary 1939 novel, The Grapes of Wrath. It wasn't long before right wing solutions were opposed to this migrant crisis.
