The Gene Therapy Facility at Campus Bartek in Geneva, Switzerland
The crimson R protein botan used responds to amber light. The patient was able to locate, touch and count objects placed on a white table in front of him while wearing special goggles that projected amber images onto his retina. It sounds miraculous, but it's been a long road to get here. And there's still lots of work to be done. In fact, getting the right genes in the right places has been the first challenge.
