The History of the Afghan Communist Government

The resources allocated to Afghanistan were dramatically increased following the December 24th, 1979 Soviet invasion. The CIA was working with an annual budget of 700 million to procure equipment and logistical support for the Mujidim. Operation Cyclone was the most expensive covert action in US history between 1979 and 1989. After newly elected president Ronald Reagan barf in 1981, CIA was given a $30 million budget for Afghan operations. That's only $10 million more than acoustic kitties.
