In this English lesson, I wanted to help you learn the English phrase, "Don't put all your eggs in one basket." This phrase means don't rely on one source of money for your life or don't rely on one thing in order to have a livelihood. Here's a good example. Jen and I grow flowers and we sell them at the farmer's market, but we also sell them at the road, we have a little roadside stand and we have people come to the farm and buy flowers. We have multiple different ways to sell our flowers because we don't want to put all our eggs in one basket. We don't want to rely on just the farmer's market in order to make money so we have diversified the amount of places from which we get money when we sell our flowers. So when you say don't put all your eggs in one basket, it means don't rely on one place for a source of income or for something else that you need.

The second phrase I wanted to teach you today is the phrase, a nest egg. A nest egg is simply an amount of money that you've put away. Sometimes when you work, you have enough money to pay your bills and there's nothing left over, but sometimes you have a little bit leftover and you could put it in an envelope and keep it in your house or maybe you put it in a savings account in the bank. We would call that money that you are saving a nest egg. It's just a small amount of money that you set aside each week or each month for something you want to buy in the future or maybe even for retirement or a time in the future when you know you'll need more money. So it's always nice when you make a little bit of money, a little bit more money than you need so that you can have a nest egg.
Anyways, to review. When you say, "Don't put all your eggs in one basket", it means don't rely on one place or one thing for all of your income or something else that you need. And a nest egg is, of course, when you put some money away, maybe under your mattress, of your bed, we don't keep money under our mattress, but usually it means you have a savings account at the bank or another place where you save some money.
Anyways, let's look at a comment from a previous video. This comment is from Andrew. When you encounter a snake, look at its eyes. If the pupils are round, it isn't a dangerous one. If the pupils are like cats have, run away. And my response is "Thanks for the advice. If I see a snake though, I don't think I'll be getting that close. LOL." So thanks Andrew for that comment.
I think you were being a little bit funny because I'm not sure anyone would really want to get super close to a snake in order to figure out what color or what the pupils of the snake's eye looked like.
Anyways, I'm just going for a little walk. There's two things I wanted to mention today. I think in my lesson last Friday on my other channel, I mentioned the word intense. We are having some intense sunlight here today. When you say something is intense, it means it's very, very bright. The sun is definitely very intense today. And we also had a bit of a windstorm. You'll notice over here, I was planning to cut this dead tree down anyways, but you'll notice that the wind kind of took care of that for me. Let me get my shadow out of the way. You'll see that this tree, which was dead, decided to fall over.
