The Need for Meaning, the Need for Purpose

The most important human need from a standpoint of really being evolved is the need for meaning, the need for purpose. If you're educated in the way that most people are educated in, you get that need for meaning all mixed up with money or status. That's the one our culture really wants to screw you up with. They don't they want you to think your need for meaning gets met by the bigger car you drive.
