Teaching Spanish Speaking Students in a Classroom

If a student has a mental model of a toy or even let's say a classroom in their home language, if we can tap into that concept and understanding and give them English words to attach to that, isn't that a benefit to the student? Absolutely. That would be a key, a very powerful difference than just considering their knowledge in English only. And so you don't need to know the native language in order to provide spaces for students to feel successful and display their knowledge.
