The Role of Special Rapporteur on Torture
Alice Edwards is the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment. She was appointed by the Human Rights Council as an expert to help them in their work. Her main functions are to seek information about incidents of torture and carry out country visits. And she also presents a report to each of those bodies on an annual basis.
