The Last of the Liberals
I see him not as the first president of moving to new political order, but as the last ne liberal president in america. I don't think sanders has failed yet. And i'm not sure a left labor alternative is is completely dead either. There was great promise in the first year of eabiding presidency that has now failed for a variety of reasons. The forces of ethno nationalism have unleashed and these have been profoundly appealing to a lot of working classs voters. It can't simply be a reassertion of the value and worth of cosmopolitan values. Something else has to become part of that mix. That something else is not yet clear enough for politicians to act on.
