The Franchise Model of McDonald's

Most McDonald's out there are franchise which basically means independent people buy out their stores and own and manage them in a certain region after a portion of the profits. In the Scranton area where I did the union they were all owned by one single family who was ultra rich in part because of the McDonald's. Of course McDonald's corporate always had the final say over everything but the manage pens of thousands of restaurants across the world so they don't really get involved in any of the nitty grittywhich is why they kind of let people own these franchises.
