There are two late sources, one that accuses joseph of treasure hunting something that he's going to take kind of personally. So there is only circumstantial evidence that would kind of support these later accounts. In august of 18 36, there was this account, this newspaper article titled money digging. But this idea that people could find buried treasure is alive and well in the nineteenth century,. particularly in the 18 thirties.
