The Inevitable Future of Technology

Wired is 30 years old this year at the 25-year anniversary. Do you think we could have found ourselves in a very different technological world if a few key people hadn't been born or some critical investment hadn't been made? I wrote a book called The Inevitable, so I am obviously biased in that general direction. Once a planet discovers electricity and maybe makes speakers, they're going to have telephones.
