The Anti-Sparta Alliance: Corinth and Thebes
The conflicts began when the Persians sent money to two of Sparta's greatest former allies, Thebes and Corinth. And so a coalition forms, where Thebes and Corinthians join up with Argos and Athens as well. In this new anti-Sparta alliance, Corinth is very strategically important because it controls Sparta's land access to the rest of Greece.
