I'm pretty interested in privacy and crypto-fungibility. And that's actually when I got more actively involved in Bitcoin, it was to try and improve that. The observation with confidential transactions is that without necessarily fixing the linkability to be able to sell, which inputs go into which transactions still visible. But we can fix the visibility of the values. It turns out to be possible to encrypt or blind the values in a transaction in such a way that a full node and miners and power users can verify that the input values, the output values are not revealing what they are. That proof is using things like Schnorr and ECTSA use - just to know kind of optimized and clever
