The Church Bells Ring During Storms

The church bells had written on them or inscribed on them the words fulgura frango, meaning I chase lightning. The idea was that demons would kind of send down the bolts like God would send the demons and that bells would scare them away. In 1769 there was a church in Brescia which was storing 100 tons of gunpowder in its vaults for safe keeping. It got struck by lightning because of the church's fire. And it blew up a sixth of the city, 3000 people died.
