The Importance of Simulation in Cognitive Behavior
Play allows you a safe area for, you might say virtual emotions. Reparté and so on is playful in its way. A lot of play is involved in a way of us experiencing things in safe environments. Look at amusement parks. You're involved in the really extreme emotions, but it's in a safe context. And I believe you'll hope it's safe.
