AB Tests - How Much Data Do You Need to Collect?
When you're running an AB test, one of the things that you should do at the beginning is try to figure out how much data you need to collect in order to draw a firm conclusion. The bigger the differences between the two outcomes that you're testing against each other, the easier it will be to stay with great confidence. So imagine that you start taking data and for the first 100 people that you measure, they all pick the green button. Well, that probably means there's something wrong with your test, but let's say you go back and you probably shoot it and know the result holds.
