We are getting into our own heads, narrativizing ourselves always. I think we've always been defined by the people around us and that's why, you know, being a hermit or being in solitary confinement or whatever in prison. The way that people perceive themselves and anticipate being perceived has changed radically. We're much more discerning about all sorts of things and visually in general. It's also about signaling and people knowing which things will sort of signal your general affinity for cetera.
