The removal of the allocation of the box in this case, under the hood, means that you can now move this API into core. And I believe one of the reasons, too, why the versions from P threads were less than ideal was that C famously doesn't do quite as many static checks for things as Rust does. So a lot of what P threads is doing is just not needed at all.
