Photographs of Lewis Armstrong
Photograph of lewis armstrong, taken in 19 60 with a second generation of white photographers. Lewis had been denied entry to the rest room because he was black. Herpschnitzer took photograph immediately after armstrong came back and sat down. It's a very different type of photograph from the photographs that always get reproduced. And you have a sense, just from looking at the photograph, that something really quite important has happened from his expression.
