The Origins of Fascism

For fascists, class didn't really come into play, or at least not in the way that Marx intended. The fascist movement would tap into this fear and use it as an excuse for their violent actions. When you compare some of the radical rhetoric of fascist movements early in their path to power, they often bear little resemblance to what they would actually do once they were in power. For example, racism did not play a large role in the fascist rhetoric in Italy in the early 1920s.
