Bull durham is a film of deep melancholy, about getting a second chance after you've become convinced you're past your prime. Kevin costner's sexual persona is completed by the actress he's working off of at forty two. For an actress to be entering a new realm of sexual roles in her forties was, for 19 88, a very big deal. Srandon's character started a real conversation about new models of female sexual liberation - or at least they were new for hollywood films.
