The Tory Party's Tension With Johnson
A serious revolt would require some kind of galvanizing figure behind it. And if that's not Johnson, I really can't think who it might be. He is trying to fight a sort of final battle earlier than it would naturally occur. The big war will happen after the conservatives lose the next election. and Johnson is trying to precipitate that. So you have someone inside that party actively trying to bring the party down from government so he can have another go at the leadership. That is Johnson's natural position, right? It's heckling from the sidelines. But there is a tension there inside the Tory party and it is of Johnson's making.
