The Role of the Father in Child Care

The role of father varies in part because the role of husbands and or adult males generally varies so much cross culturally. In China, women's education has kept pace with men's as has employment. There are many fathers caring for their offspring full time, unthinkable state of affairs until just recently. The most notable effect of the transition to more complex urban society on the lives of children is that for the well off biological parents are even less involved in childcare than before. Where there is wealth, leisure and servants or slaves, mothers quickly divest themselves of any residual childcare responsibilities.
