The New Statesman: A History of 9/11
I was actually there at 9-11 in downtown Manhattan. I was invited by somebody that I used to collaborate with while I was at the new statesman to go and do an archive hour for Radio 4 on Ellis Island. And we were meeting, we were due to meet at 9 o'clock in the morning at Battery Park to catch the ferry on September 11, 2001. At the time I lived in Brooklyn, so I probably would have been shut on the other side of the bridge. But in fact, I was right there. And it was pretty shocking.
