One of the problems with ience generally is that when researchers have too much leeway about how they collect and analyze their data, they may find a null finding. The last common objection that i hear to the open science movement from time to time is just that it would so some of the open science policies would wind up en more work. So am for example, one of the things that's becoming more and more common is pre registration of study protocols.
