The Queen's Necklace Affair

In 17 76, the queen was accused of trying to steal a necklace from her husband. A public trial took place and she was found guilty but not guilty by reason of innocence. The affair created great excitement in Paris before it was hushed up. It left two lasting impressions: one relating to madame de la motte, the other to the queen.
