The Origins of the I-1 People of Northern Europe

I-1 is a paternal lineage. It's assumed to have been preserved among Neolithic farmers, but that originally came from Western hunter-gatherers. I-M253 pretty certainly was taken into Scandinavia by the cordedware people. We don't know whether there was any single expansion or if it was an unadmixed culture which we've not found yet.
