Is Scientific Naming a Science?

In a paper by Judith Winston from the Smithsonian Institute, she describes that, quote, taxonomy is the subdivision of systematics. But unlike the other activities of systematics, nomenclature is a system, not a science. And on that last point, I would actually wholeheartedly disagree. I believe that scientific naming is a science. It's just a different kind of science. We also talk about inscrutable acronyms like autosomal dominant compelling helio and photic sneeze reflex.
