Thucydides' Narrative of Tisophanis

Thucydides entirely omits these events though, and his silence here has puzzled scholars. Tisophanis was under Darius' orders to either capture alive or kill a morgus. Despite their previous non-aggression pact of the Athenians, it is clear that the Persians had never genuinely accepted Athens' right to collect tribute in Asia Minor. And so it was for this very purpose that these two C Atraps hoped they could make use of the Spartans.
