The Great Mutiny of 1917 saw thousands of French soldiers refuse orders to attack the enemy. Thousands were court-martialed and hundreds sentenced to die, although only 26 mutineers would ultimately be executed. Magarita Zella had created an elaborate new identity for herself, complete with an accompanying fake history. A decade earlier, she was one of the most famous women in Europe, but most only knew her by her stage name, Madahari.
