Is the Producer the Right Person for the Job?
I think it's just got to be based solely on what you offer as a producer. You are responsible for doing all of the non-creative work that directly affects the creation of the album. I've worked with artists who have had a bigger effect on the sound of the record in those terms than I did. It is such a mess. So you're advised to work out whether you're the right person for the job.
