The government's policy of three weeks ago is now just embers floating in the air after the new chancellor set everything alight. This afternoon there was an emergency question to the prime minister except she didn't show up and it was left to the leader of the house to hold the fort. Penny Mauden ended up spending about an hour telling MPs that Listeris would very much like to have been there for that hour but unfortunately as a result of urgent business, urgent business that she would like to be able to tell everyone what it was.
