The World Record for Sleep Deprivation
The world record for sleep deprivation is held by Randy Gardner, a student at Stanford who went 11 days without sleep. This was part of an experiment you can read all about on the internet. It was kind of run by a guy named Bill Dement, who was a doctor of sleep medicine out at Stanford. I always kind of feel like everybody in sleep medicine traces their lineage back to Bill Dement and to fasten the fewer steps that it takes the more distinguished you are.
