The Importance of Allocation of Rights in Employment Contracts

If the parties don't specify a term, then all then an employment contract just says that the employer will employ and pay and the employee will work for an indefinite term. And either party may terminate that contract at at will. This is distinguished from the types of interstate compacts that allocate property or similar rights. That's more like and the court didn't do this analysis, but you can see it implied it's more like a sale of goods.
