Soviet Georgia: Socialism, Stalin, and the Collapse of the USSR
Rev Left Radio
Is Stalin a Strong Man?
Sopo: There's like the conservative sort of approach to Stalin, which sees him as a strong man and through the lens of nationalism. And then you said there's this cultural or the cultural lists maybe who have a certain nostalgia often from their youth of better times. Do liberals fit in there anywhere? Are they kind of under that cultural thing or do liberals a separate group? Sopo: I think the liberals in Georgia are very anti-Soviet. So anti-Stalin, but they will always have a grandpa or grandma who loves Stalin. He is the utopian symbol of a good life.
