Plastics - Not Our Job, It's Theirs
Most of today's plastics are major of hydrocarbon molecules, carbon and hydrogen that are derived from refining oil and natural gas. That will figure very prominently on our story as we move forward. Plastic also has a different sort of cultural baggage attached to it. Starting in the 1960s, plastic started to become synonymous with cheap, fake, superficial. It didn't take long after its mass production for it to take on this sort of negative meaning.
