The Origins and Impacts of HIV
There are three main ways HIV can get into the body. The most common is by sex, but it can also be transmitted from mother to baby. It infects a number of cells including T-cells that circulate around the blood. Some of these cells form part of the immune system that provides our memory. So HIV uses the body's own way of keeping that record alive to keep itself working.
