If God Sent Jesus to Earth, Is It Necessary?

I am not a christian, but i have no issue with believing in god. My whole life i have felt that i have, i have strong faith in god. Why is this not sufficient? Why must i believe in jesus to be a believer? Well, am, what depends on who jesus is. If he's the son of god, it's necessary. If he isn't then you just need to check, check it out. That's what we're here for,. Is to look at the evidence and lookat text and that sort of thing.
