How to Enter the World of Jazz Music for the First Time
There's nothing like being there for a jazz concert because of the interplay among the musicians and the interaction with the audience. If you just want recordings, I would go to Kind of Blue by Miles Davis which has John Coltrane on it. Jimmy Cobb played drums up until his mid-90s and he came to Denver twice. In fact, they had to help him come out. It was great. He could still play drums.
