Russ Altman talks with Professor Desiree Lebeau of Stanford University. She tells us how macro or large plastics create little pools of water that can support mosquito larvae, which grow up to be mosquitoes and transmit disease. In many parts of the world, including where I work in Sub-Saharan Africa and Kenya, about 75% of plastic laying around is burned. About 600 million tons of plastic worldwide is burned every single year.
