The Role of Family Resemblance in Language
Family resemblance is a loose confederation of characteristics that applies to most examples. Such meanings are not demarcated by sharp and well-defined borders, but instead blend into one another across blurred boundaries. In his 2021 book, Rationality, psychologist Steven Pinker invokes the offspring of Robert Kardashian as literal examples of family resemblance.
