I don't think the original intent of the cathedral was to elicit emotion. The goal is to sweep you into a kind of horizontal way of thinking about life in the world. A church service that creates emotion may or may not be missing the mark. I guess the fear is is immediatelyand it's a worry. We haven't seen the final product.
